The 'Visual' Manifesto
Who Am I?
I’m Hannah, pleasure to meet you. I’m a masters student studying Forensic Science and I have been at Staffs for 4 years now. In my time here I have gotten as involved as I possibly could in the University and Students Union. I have worked at LRV and Verve since I first started uni, rising to become a Team Leader Manager in my second year. I have been a part of 6 different groups during my time at Staffs, and I have also been on the following committees:

(Yes, I was on 4 committees in 1 year, I like to think this is why there is now a limit haha) Because of these roles I have a decent knowledge of the Union staff, processes and who to direct students to when they need help.
I am also always there to help when students need me, for example in both 2019 and 2020 when the Halls of Residence were evacuated, I was on hand to help raise morale, feed the students, organise the day and in 2019 I even slept over in LRV with other volunteers to keep an eye on students.
The most important thing that you need to know about me, is how much I genuinely care about the students, the University, and the Union. I have been lucky in my time here in that I have loved being a part of Staffs and I want everyone to be able to have this same experience if not better. My hope is that if I can get elected into office, I can make this happen.
The Written Manifesto
Clubs, Sports and Societies
I want to put on more events such as a Back2School sports day and introduce the Charity cup, a fundraising competition between all teams and groups. I also want to introduce sports placements for Photography and Sports Journalism students and extend TeamTV to societies.
Body and
Mind
To aid mental health, I want to partner with charities to improve our mental health system and bring back dog de-stress days. To aid sexual health, I want to bring in monthly drop-in slots for STI testing and provide more easily accessible morning-after pills. Finally, to aid physical health I want to introduce affordable personal training at the gym using our coaching sports students.
Your money, your say
To help students save money, I want to bring in proper student bus fares and push to keep prices in shops and campus services down. As for your say, to keep students involved in what goes on around their campus, I want to involve them in venue menus and new buildings such as the Catalyst and Nursery.
Keeping You Safe
I want to introduce the following systems; The Cop Shop reporting system to report incidents, the Library Angels for student emergencies, the Walk-Me-Home system to walk students home at night, and the Safe Taxi Scheme to get students home from a night out safely.
Creating Opportunities
I want to create more opportunities for students, such as volunteering with YMCA, placements with the wellbeing service, art opportunities around campus, and extending science lab and gym opening times.
The Inclusion Agenda
To improve Staffs inclusion, I want to host Ally programs with our networks, improve Hidden Disability Awareness, introduce access to period products to ALL bathrooms across campus, and implement computer/software and literature training into the beginning of courses.
The Road Away
From Covid
Thanks to Covid, for the past year the Staffs we knew and loved has not existed, so I want to Bring Staffs Back. I’m going to do this by aiding sports teams and societies in their return to practice, working with venues to put on events, and ensuring the return to on-campus teaching is as smooth as possible.
Sustainable Staffs
In the People and Planet Sustainable University rankings, we are currently 85th, meanwhile Keele is 12th! I want to work to improve this ranking by lobbying the university to commit to a Climate Emergency. I also want to introduce a reuse or donate system for furniture so it can be used by our students rather than it being thrown away.
